Adopt A US Soldier receives hundreds of letters of praise and thanks from both our deployed troops and our supportive volunteers citizens.  These testimonials
help to show how much good a kind word, a supportinjg letter, or a special project to honor our troops can actually do.

Here you’ll find actual letters written to Adopt A US Soldier and its volunteers describing exactly how much difference just a supportive letter, or a care package from home can make in the life of a soldier.  You will also read touching stories by the volunteers of Adopt A US Soldier detailing how positive the experience of adopting their own soldier has been.

Touching Words From Lieutenant Colonel Osterholzer

You never realize how much a kind thought, a letter, and perhaps a touch of home actually means.
“Words cannot describe what the support from incredibly generous and loving people involved with AAUSS meant to me while I was deployed to Afghanistan.  In addition to the grinding stresses of being in a combat zone, I was going through a very difficult time in my personal life.  You just can’t describe in words what it means to a soldier during “mail call” to hear his or her name called out, being able to physically hold something from “home” that instantly takes them away from the harshness of their surroundings, even if it’s only for a few minutes.
