AAUSS currently offers two ways to show your support for our troops, adopting a soldier and project frontlines.  Adopting a soldier will pair you with a single soldier for the length of his or her deployment whereas Project Frontlines focuses on an entire platoon for a shorter period of time.

My soldier has not replied back to me.  Does this mean he does not want support?

NO!  If your soldier is in a remote area he/she will have limited computer/internet access and will not know there is e-mail waiting for him/her.  Even if your soldier is not in a remote area, all the soldiers have very long, exhausting days and the last thing they want to do is wait in line to get on a computer.
After sending off your initial e-mail to your soldier, print out that e-mail and mail it out to your soldier.  Whether you hear from your soldier or not, please continue to mail out a weekly letter.  Letters through the mail are like “hugs from home” to all of the soldiers.  The soldiers are known to put these letters into their pockets before going out on missions so that they are able to re-read them if they have a spare moment.  Plus, continuing to send letters, especially to a silent soldier, lets the soldier know that he/she is not forgotten even though he/she has not been able to contact you.
