AAUSS Ambassador Sloan makes big waves at the She Event, helping to recruit volunteers to adopt their own soldier. (Pictures posted in the gallery.)
HI!!
I was able to get a booth at the SHE Event this past weekend and while I wasn’t in the same arena as the rest of the actual vendors, I’d say I got a pretty good response from the public about Adopt A US Soldier! MANY groups were interested in adopting a soldier for their group! Teachers mentioned getting one for their classes, church groups, Girl Scouts, families, etc. I even had one lady come up to me with her husband and 2 girls and tell me that her husband is a recent Iraqi Veteran and that the troops are a very sensitive subject to her. While she was crying too hard to talk to me (note to self: bring tissues for next event!!!) her husband was telling me how much care packages mean to the guys over there and how we’ll never know what its like but he does. It was very touching. I wanted to hug him!!!
I was at my booth from 7:45am until 5:00pm on Saturday Sept 18. I was able to collect 296 cards and $61.00 in donations and handed out about 750-800 flyers for AAUSS!! I thought that this was amazing for my first event!!
I have attached pictures of the event, I hope that they all get to you.
p.s. Is there anyway that I can be told if any has signed up from South Carolina in the past few days? As I said, I had SOOO many people interested and just wanted to know if any of them have followed through in signing up to adopt a soldier!!
